La Croix du Sud boutique hotel & Wine Tourist facility
The council approved project was to design on an un-utilised 6 hectare agricultural land on the R45 to Franschhoek.
The development included:
Existing warehouse converted into a microbrewery, wine barrel maturation, deli and restaurant
New boutique hotel comprising of 8 rooms in manor house and 16 one and two bedroom cottages
4 hectare of landscaped gardens including a 5 000 sq.m water feature.
A sustainable guide line defined the development of structures and landscape.
The green designed initiative included:
Collection and storage of storm water to be utilised for houses and landscape
All structures to be connected to a common Black water recycling plant to be utilised for landscape irrigation.
100 kw Grid-connected solar PV system to be place on the road boundary side of the development and to serve common and household energy load
All structures designed following the passive house initiative
